Technical Specifications
Flow Rates & Roof Coverage
To ensure compliance with BS EN 12056:3, rainwater systems must be specified based on the effective roof area (m2).
Note: Calculations based on a level gutter gradient. Reduced capacities apply where bends are incorporated; see BS EN 12056-3: 2000. The maximum effective area is based on the Building Regulation maximum rainfall intensity value of 0.022 ls-1m-2 for a flat roof and should be calculated in accordance with BS EN 12056-3: 2000 for other rainfall values or roof types. A short gutter is defined as less than 50 times its design water depth.
Installation: Preventing Leaks and Sagging
The integrity of a rainwater system depends on correct jointing and support. Our systems feature high-specification EPDM seals for a leak-free finish.
Expansion
All our gutter fittings feature an "insertion line." Always push the gutter to this line to allow the PVC-U to expand and contract during temperature changes without stressing the joints.
Bracket Spacing
To prevent "ponding" and sagging, gutter brackets should be installed at a maximum of 1.0m centres. This should be reduced to 0.5m in areas of high wind and snow loading. Brackets should be placed within 150mm of any fitting or angle.
