The Essential Guide to Polypipe Building Products Ancillary Solutions

When undertaking a professional installation, the components you use behind the scenes are just as important as the pipework itself. Using the correct ancillary products ensures compliance, longevity, and reliable performance across every system.

Here is a comprehensive overview of our ancillary range and how to utilise them correctly in line with our installation guidelines.

Surface Preparation

The first step in our solvent weld installation guidance is proper preparation. 

• Cleaning Fluid (CF250): Supplied in a 250ml tub, this fluid is essential for thoroughly cleaning and preparing the jointing surfaces, ensuring a strong base for the adhesive to bond prior to applying the solvent cement.

Solvent Weld Solutions 

When it comes to solvent weld joints, our solvent cement is formulated to work with PVCu, MuPVC and ABS.

• Solvent Cement (SC125, SC250, SC500): Available in 125ml, 250ml, and 500ml tubs, the solvent cement, it chemically fuses the pipe and fitting surfaces together to create a strong, leak free joint. 

Lubrication Solutions

Different systems require tailored lubrication whether working above or below ground to facilitate smooth and easy installation. Lubrication reduces the friction required to make a joint, making assembly quicker and preventing possible damage to the seal. Our lubricants are specially formulated, won’t degrade plastic or rubber, and can be washed away easily.

• Silicone Grease (SG100, SIL500): Available in 100g and 500g tubs, our silicone grease is primarily utilised for above-ground drainage installations when making push-fit connections.
• Pipe Jointing Lubricant (SG500): Available in a 500ml bottle, our liquid pipe jointing lubricant is designed for lubricating pipe and fittings, spigots and rubber ring seals.
• Joint Lubricant (LUBX1, LUBX2.5): For below-ground drainage installations, we offer dedicated joint lubricant available in 1kg and 2.5kg tubs ensuring smooth insertion of larger-diameter pipes and fittings.
• Aerosol Lubricant Spray (SG300): Our 400g aerosol lubricant spray is WRAS-approved. Are you utilising WRAS-approved lubricant when working on plumbing components, seals, O-rings, or valves that come into contact with public or domestic drinking water?

Only Polypipe Building Products ancillaries are recommended for use with our products. Other suppliers products may not be compatible.
