At Polypipe Building Products, we believe in investing in the future of plumbing, and that means getting hands-on with the next generation of installers.

Recently, we took this commitment to Nescot College, where plumbing students on full-time and apprenticeship courses benefited from an engaging two-day roadshow.

Students of all levels were given a unique opportunity to participate in a presentation and masterclass led by Joe Thompson, our Technical Training Manager.  The learning didn't stop there!  Students were then divided into pairs and challenged to build a ladder frame using PolyMax® and PolyFit® white barrier pipe.  The competitive spirit was high, with prizes awarded to the winning teams.

"It’s been really good engaging with the plumbing students at our roadshow here at Nescot," said Joe. "These students are going to be out in the field using the products, so it's really important for manufacturers to get into colleges and get involved in activities like this. It allows students to understand and see the different types of products they'll be using on a day-to-day basis.”

"A huge thank you to Polypipe Building Products and to Joe for visiting Nescot and giving our students the opportunity to take part in this fantastic roadshow. It’s been great seeing our students so engaged and showcasing their skillsets. They have all enjoyed the practical activity and got into the competitive spirit to build the best ladder frame. We are very grateful to Joe for taking the time to interact with our students and for his useful guidance and insights. Well-done to all our students and congratulations to our winners!”

The students themselves were enthusiastic about the experience.

Harry noted, “It’s helping me develop my skills for the workplace.”  Tyler added, “It’s a chance to practice on-the-job skills so I can go into the workplace knowing what I’m doing.”  Jacob, a Level 3 apprentice, shared, “I think the roadshow has been really good, especially for students like me. I don’t normally work on this sort of material, so it’s given me a good chance to learn about new materials, the manufacturers, and how the products are used, produced, and sold. It’s been great taking part.”
