Polypipe Building Products recently hosted our annual charity football match at the Goals sports complex near our Neale Road manufacturing site in Doncaster. The tournament brought together employees from across the entire organisation to participate in a friendly competition while supporting two important charities: Dementia UK and Doncaster Foodbank.

Thanks to the generosity and support of team members and attendees, the event raised £860, which will be split equally between the two supported organisations.

Teams and Tournament Results

Under sunny blue skies, eight teams representing a wide range of operational and administrative departments competed in a fast-paced afternoon of fixtures.

Departments represented on the pitch included:

  • Despatch
  • Maintenance (2 Teams)
  • Mason Pinder
  • Development
  • Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Extrusion
  • Moulding

Following a competitive series of group matches and knockout rounds, Team SLT faced Team Mason Pinder in the final. Team Mason Pinder secured the overall victory 4-0, capping off an impressive clean sweep by winning every single match they played throughout the afternoon.

Congratulations to team members (Pictured L-R) Jack Temperton, James Hall, Sam Appleby, Ryan Martindale and Jon Appleby for taking home the trophy, and a huge well done to everyone who participated across all departments!

Leadership Commentary

Ben Wingfield, Operations Director at Polypipe Building Products and lead organiser of the event, highlighted the significance of the annual gathering:

"It’s always fantastic to see teams from right across the business come together year on year for our annual football match. Beyond the competition on the pitch, the event gives everyone a great opportunity to connect with colleagues they might not see every day. Most importantly, it allows us to raise crucial funds for charities that hold personal significance to the people within our business."

Supporting Charities: Dementia UK and Doncaster Foodbank

The £860 raised from this year's tournament directly benefits two essential causes:

Dementia UK: Providing specialist support and compassionate care through Admiral Nurses to families living with dementia.

Doncaster Foodbank: Providing emergency food packages and vital support to individuals and families in crisis across the local Doncaster community.
